Perhaps you bought a new sun server and are having some problems to connect to it. Read this small blog to get the right direction.
The new V200 series like the V210 has a port on the back called a serial management port, servers like V100 have an A Lom port and a B Serial Port. For example, if you want to connect from an existing running V100 server to a V210 server you would need a rollover cable that goes from V100 B Serial port to V210 serial mangement port. Note: A rollover cable are the thin cables you use to connect to a Cisco router, most likely your sun server should be bundled with at least one rollover cable. Once you make the connection, login into your SSH terminal and run the following command: tip hardwire You should get the following response if all is good: connected OK> If you only get connected but not OK> , there is a problem of some sort, so please recheck the cabling. I hope this basic guide to connect to new sun servers is helpfull, I had some trouble on the past setting the new gremlin :) Best Regards Felipe |
